The Advocacy, Learning, and Inclusion Group for Next-generation psychologists (ALIGN) operates as a subcommittee of the Psychology Graduate Students' Association (PGSA) at the University of Regina. We are committed to cultivating and advancing JEDI initiatives within the realm of psychology.
Increase awareness of the impact of racism and other forms of discrimination on individuals, communities, and the field of psychology.
Facilitate discussions and educational sessions on the historical and contemporary issues related to racism, injustice, and inequity.
Provide resources and training opportunities to enhance cultural competence among graduate psychology students.
Encourage the integration of diverse perspectives in research, coursework, and clinical practice.
Advocate for implementing inclusive policies and practices within the Department of Psychology and the University of Regina.
Collaborate with administration to address and rectify discriminatory policies or practices, working towards justice and equity.
Foster connections with local communities to better understand and address their unique needs.
Engage in outreach programs that promote mental health and well-being in underserved communities, promoting justice and equity.
Collaborate with other student groups, organizations, and initiatives that share our commitment to JEDI.
Establish partnerships with external organizations working towards social justice and racial equity.
Provide a supportive space for graduate students to discuss their experiences, challenges, and successes related to racism and injustice.
Advocate for the mental health and well-being of students of all backgrounds within the graduate psychology program, fostering a culture of inclusion.
